人は、自分にない世界を持っている人に惹かれる

はじめに、東日本大震災で被災されたみなさまに心からお見舞いを申し上げます。
恋愛相談室コラム最終回の後、何か新しい企画をと、言っていただいたけれど、なかなかいい企画案がうかびませんでした。
そして、そんな最中、3月11日の地震が起きました。
日本中が大変なこんな時期に、ほんとうにどうでもいいようなことを書き綴ってもいいのかしら？というキモチになって、私の中で、1ヶ月ほど企画がストップしてしまいました。
しかし、復興に必要なものは、文化であり、人と人とのつながりではないかと思うに至りました。
そして、新しいコラムとして、「こんなDQにだれがした！？」を始めようと決意したのです。
恋愛相談室の執筆中から、読者の中に、「ドラァグクイーンってどんな人なんだろう？」と思っている方がいるとしたら、それに対して、自然な形でお答えしたい…、と考えていました。
それには、私がこころから愛する映画、小説、写真集などをご紹介することで、私の人となりの一端を垣間見ていただけるのではないかと…。
このコラムは、本や作品の批評ではありませんし、私にはそんな力があるわけでもありません。単なるご紹介でしかありませんし、とりとめのない話になるかもしれませんが、これまでに私が出合った、愛してやまない作品を通じて、美しくも妖しい世界をみなさんと共有できれば幸せです。
NUBAとの出会い
パーティのない週末は、私は、それはもう本当に地味な生活を送っているのですが、そんな中での楽しみの一つに古本屋めぐりがあります。
古本屋には、新本にはないまた別の出合い、いままで知らなかった世界へいざなってくれる書物との偶然の出合いがあります。
今回はそのような古本屋めぐりの中で、私がこれまでに出合って一番うれしかった本をご紹介します。
それは「NUBA」という写真集。
私がもっとも尊敬するアーティストの一人に、今はNYで映画のコスチュームなどをデザインされている石岡瑛子さんがいます。彼女がコスチュームデザインをした映画には、「ザ・セル」や「落下の王国」などがあります。
その石岡さんが、まだ日本で活躍していたころに、PARCO出版から出された写真集がこの「NUBA」です。
古本屋の雑多な書棚にうもれていたのですが、何かただならぬ「気」のようなものを発しているように感じ、私は自然とその本を手にとりました。
アフリカをテーマにしたこの写真集、写真を撮っているのは、レニ・リーフェンシュタールという女流作家です。
ご存知の方もいるかもしれませんが、ナチス・ドイツで映画監督をしていた人であり、ベルリンオリンピックの記録映画「オリンピア」などの作品があります。
レニはナチスの協力者として、不遇の人生を送りますが、その創作意欲は101歳で亡くなるまで、消えることはありませんでした。
石岡さんは、レニのそんな後期の作品に出合い、アートディレクターとして、本当にディテールの隅々にまで、完璧にデザインしています。
私はこの本を手にして、一つの名画をみるのと同じ、いや、それ以上の感動を覚えました。
装丁、批評、奥付にいたるまで、写真、文字、そして余白までもが、これ以上ないと思うほどに美しく仕上がっているのです。
私はドラァグクイーンとして、パーティを主催する場合にも、まず「出合い」を大切にしたいと考えています。
この本には、レニとアフリカ・ヌバ族との出合い、レニと石岡瑛子の出合い、私と「NUBA」の出合い、
そしてこのコラムをよんでくれているみなさんと私との出合いという、様々な出合いが存在しています。
このコラムを通じて、皆さんが「NUBA」を読んだり、石岡瑛子がコスチュームを担当した映画の中でも、もっとも私が好きな映画、「落下の王国」をDVDで観たりすることで、新しい世界に出合う。
そういう素敵な出合いのつながりができればうれしく思います。
人は、自分にない世界を持っている人に惹かれる
最近の若いドラァグクイーンをみていると、私なんかよりも、ずっと綺麗で、ショーも上手な人が多いのですが、ただ器用なだけで、その人の世界観や、そのバックボーンのようなものが見えない。
表面的には小綺麗にまとまっているけれど、深さや一歩踏み込んだ魅力が感じられない。
こんなことを言うなんて本当に、ババぁのようでイヤですが、そう思うことが多いのです。
これは、若い女性でも同じ。
どうして男を惹きつけることができないのかしら？
そういう悩みを持っている人には、次のようにアドバイスをします。
「セックス以外の魅力も身につけることが秘訣」
恋愛相談室でも繰り返しいいましたが、男はないものねだりなんです。
自分にないものを持っている人、自分にない世界を持っている人に惹かれるものです。

I think on it, I love sincerely movies, novels, photo album, etc., it is to introduce, that you can have a glimpse of my personality of one end.

Encounter with NUBA
Weekend without a party, have a really sober life, but, there is a used bookstore tour in one of the fun of such a case.
The used bookstore, not in the new book, there is another of the encounters, the chance of a book that will entice to the world that did not know until now encounters.
This time in such a used bookstore tour, will introduce the book I was glad most in encounters so far.
It is photo book called “NUBA”.
To one of the artists that I most respect, now have been designed such as a movie costume in NY, we have Eiko Ishioka is. Movie that she was the costume design, there is “The Cell” and “Kingdom of the fall”.
The Ishioka san, the time that had been active still in Japan, photo book issued from PARCO publication is this “NUBA”.
In the book I had been buried in the miscellaneous bookshelf of used bookstore, I feel something like the alarming “pathos”, I took to the nature and the hand.
The photo collection was the African theme, for taking pictures is a woman writer of Leni Riefenstahl.
You might also have you know, those who had been a film director in Nazi Germany, there are works such as Berlin Olympics of documentary film “Olympia”.
Leni as Nazi collaborators, spend the misfortune of life, but the creative impulse did not disappear until his death at 101 years of age.
Ishioka san, encounters the work of such a late stage of Leni, as an art director, you have to design really perfect to every corner of the detail.
I have to hand this book, the same as looking at one of the masterpieces, no, I felt more excitement.

In this book, Leni and the African Nuba of encounters, Leni and Eiko Ishioka of encounters, me and the “NUBA” encounters, and that encounters with everyone who is willing to read this column and I, a variety of encounters It exists.
