今回ご紹介する本は無謀にも経済学の本。しかもマルクス経済学についての本です。
実際は経済学だけでなく、もっと広い社会科学について書かれたものです。
私自身、はっきり言ってほとんど興味のない分野、しかも、マルクス経済学なんて難解だろうし、経済学の中でもちょっと古い感じのする分野だと思っていました。
ところが、そんな先入観をとりはらってくれたのが「社会科学の方法 ヴェーバーとマルクス(大塚久雄著)」。
この本は講演をベースにしているので、比較的分かりやすい内容になっているのですが、中でも次に引用する「群衆」のエピソードは、まったく経済学の知識のない私でもすんなりと理解することができました。
少し長いですが引用してみたいと思います。
中学生のとき、弟と一緒に一高ー三高の野球戦を見に行ったのですが、入口近くで群衆がなだれをうって動き始めました。そしてそのなかへ、私も弟も入ってしまったのです。
ああいう場合、個々人が徹底的に反抗して動こうとしたら、自分が死なないまでも大怪我をするだけで、無事に生きのびようとすれば、個々人はその流れのなかで、ただ全体の動きについていくほかはないでしょう。

こういう体験はよくあることですね。
著者はそんな実体験を紹介して、次のようにまとめています。
諸個人の力の総和にほからなぬ群衆全体の力が、
群衆を形づくる諸個人自身から独立し、むしろ対立するものとなっている。

群衆の中では、自分が思うように行動できないときがあります。
行こうとする方向にうまく進むことができない。
そういう情況をマルクスは「人間の疎外」と呼んだわけです。多分。
これは経済だけでなく、恋愛でも同じような情況があるのではないでしょうか？
恋愛と経済の共通点
つき合ったり、結婚したり、こういうことも回りの情況に、非常に影響されるものです。
自分のキモチがつたわらなかったり、他人の悪気のない行動に邪魔されたり。
思い通りにいかないのが恋愛。
つまり、人間の作り出す「恋愛」が、人間の「集団行動に疎外される」わけです。
ここまで書いているうちに、あるフランス映画を思い出しました。
マルセル・カルネ監督（注1）の「天井桟敷の人々」という、第二次世界大戦中に製作された作品です。
この映画のラストシーンで、主人公のバチストが、最愛のガランスを追いかけるのですが、群衆に邪魔されて、二人は引き離されてしまうのです。
そのシーンのすごいこと。圧倒的な存在感を堪能できる作品、マルセル・カルネの世界は必見です。
話はすこし飛びますけれど、映画評論なんかを読むと、ヌーベルバーグ（注2）の手法が新しくて、初めて見たときに衝撃を受けたと書いている人が多いですね。
しかし1970年代以降に生まれた私にとっては、ヌーベルバーグ自体がもう当たり前の技法になっていて、どこが新しいのだろってずっと思っていました。
要するに、マルセル・カルネなど、ヌーベルバーグ以前の映画を観ていないから、その新しさがわからなかったのですね。
また、ヌーベルバーグで思い出すのが、美輪明宏さん。
美輪さんの数ある作品の中でも「銀巴里ライヴ」は私の永遠のバイブルなのですが、伝説のシャンソン喫茶「銀巴里」でのこのライブで、美輪さんは、ヌーベルバーグを痛快にこきおろしているんです。
なんといってもMCの巧妙さは、現在のオネエ系芸能人はもとより、芸能界全体をみわたしても、他の追随をゆるさない美輪さん。ヌーベルバーグについても、単なる悪口ではなく、MCが一つの作品と呼んでいいくらいの出来になっています。
その時その場所に行けなかった(当たり前ですけど)のが悔しいくらいにすばらしいライブです。CDがでていますので、必ず聴いてみてください。必ずですよ。
そういえば、その「銀巴里ライヴ」にその名もズバリ「群衆」という曲があります。
この曲も群衆に翻弄される運命を歌ったものです。
